Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need any prior experience to take a class?
No experience is required for our beginner courses. We offer entry-level classes like Pistol Foundations and Arizona CCW Certification designed specifically for new shooters. Safety and confidence come first.
What should I bring to class?
Valid government-issued ID
Your firearm (if you have one)
Ammo (check course requirements for round count)
Eye and ear protection
Water and appropriate range attire
If you don’t have gear, rental packages may be available—just ask when booking.
Do I need to own a gun to take a course?
No. We have loaner firearms available for most beginner classes, but you must request one in advance. If you need to borrow a firearm, let us know at least 24 hours before class so we can have it ready for you. You’ll be able to train and complete the course without needing to purchase a firearm upfront.
Where are your classes held?
Most classes are held at Ben Avery Shooting Facility in Phoenix, AZ. Some private sessions or special clinics may take place at other approved ranges. Exact locations are confirmed after booking.
Is live-fire included in every course?
No, live-fire is not required for every course — but we aim to include it in every class whenever possible.
Even in non-shooting classes like CCW certification, we typically offer an optional live-fire session for students who want hands-on experience. Unless shooting is a requirement for a specific course, you may opt out of live-fire, but we strongly encourage it for skill development and confidence.
How do I get my Arizona CCW after completing your class?
You’ll receive a Certificate of Completion and the official Arizona DPS application packet at the end of class.
To complete the process, you’ll need to submit your fingerprints, application, and payment to the Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS).
Fingerprinting may be available on-site for an additional fee. Availability varies by class — check the event details or contact us to confirm.
Can I book private instruction?
Yes. We offer private training sessions tailored to your specific goals, covering everything from foundational skills to advanced drills.
Sessions are a minimum of 2 hours, and booking is done by direct contact to ensure proper scheduling and preparation.
Visit the Private Training page or reach out to reserve your session.
Are your instructors certified?
Yes. All classes are led by a USCCA or NRA Certified Instructor who is also an active-duty military professional with real-world tactical experience.
